
Jaipur, March 19 The caretaker of a mosque was arrested on Thursday for allegedly attempting to set a man on fire in the Tonk district of Rajasthan, police said.
The police have registered a case of attempted murder against the accused, Abdul Rashid, 25, and admitted the injured to a hospital in Jaipur, they said.
The incident occurred in a mosque in the village of Kalmanda, where the accused, Abdul Rashid, 25, threw a flammable substance at Hakim, 45, while he was in the bathroom, setting him on fire.
Malpura Deputy SP Ashish Kumar Prajapat said that Rashid and Hakim had a verbal argument on Wednesday over some issue. On Thursday, when Hakim was in the bathroom, he threw a flammable substance at him and set him on fire.
He said that Hakim was taken to a nearby hospital by locals, and from there, he was referred to a hospital in Jaipur.
The search for the absconding accused is underway, he said.
