Hyderabad, April 2 Highlighting the mosquito problem in Hyderabad, opposition BRS MLA D Sudheer Reddy addressed a press conference on Thursday wearing a dress made using mosquito net.
He criticized the Congress government for failing to control the spread of mosquitoes and demanded that they provide at least 10 fogging machines for every ward in the city and take other measures, including manual and drone spraying of insecticides, removal of hyacinth, and releasing gambusia (mosquito fish) in water bodies.
"I am asking whether a government that is unable to control the mosquito problem deserves to continue in office," said Sudheer Reddy, BRS MLA from L B Nagar.
He claimed that security personnel in the assembly premises behaved inappropriately by telling him not to wear the specially made dress, despite there being no such order.
Reddy, who said he wore the dress as a form of protest, alleged that corruption was rampant in carrying out insecticide sprays, releasing gambusia fish, and other activities, leading to the mosquito problem worsening in the city.
He claimed that people coming to Hyderabad were leaving due to the mosquitoes, and that this was damaging the city's image.
