
Ghazipur (UP), March 18 Three people, including two women, were killed after a car collided with a motorcycle on the Varanasi-Gorakhpur four-lane road here, police said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred near Kaithwali village under the Mardah police station limits on Tuesday afternoon when a speeding car hit the motorcycle from behind, killing the driver, Satyendra Kumar, 30, Rajeshwari Devi, 59, and her daughter-in-law, Rinki Devi, 29, on the spot. The car driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind, officials said.
Satyendra Kumar was a resident of Haiderganj village, while Rajeshwari Devi and Rinki Devi were from Bijoura village, they added.
According to police, Rajeshwari Devi and Rinki Devi had earlier visited the Mardah police station in connection with a dispute with relatives. After completing the formalities, they were returning home in the afternoon when they met their acquaintance, Satyendra Kumar, on his motorcycle, and requested a ride.
As the three reached near Kaithwali village, a car coming from behind collided with their motorcycle, killing them, the police said.
The bodies have been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination. Efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver, they added.
