Mirzapur (UP), March 14 A woman and her 12-year-old daughter died while a man was seriously injured after a truck collided with their motorcycle on a national highway here, police said on Saturday.
The accident occurred in the Lalganj police station area, Station House Officer (SHO) Abhay Kumar Singh said.
The trailer truck hit the motorcycle carrying three people, killing two of them on the spot, while the rider sustained serious injuries. The injured man, Manoj, has been admitted to a medical college hospital for treatment.
According to the officer, Rita (36) and her daughter Soumya (12) died in the accident, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
After the collision, the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle and crashed through the barrier of a flyover, getting stuck hanging from it, he said.
Police later removed the vehicle with the help of a crane. Further legal action in the matter is underway, police added.
