
Raebareli (UP), March 12 Two Class 12 students on a motorcycle were killed and a girl cyclist was injured on Thursday after a truck ran over them on the Raebareli–Pratapgarh road in the Salon Kotwali area, police said.
The deceased, Mahfuz Khan, 20, a resident of Rehua Lalganj Azhara in Pratapgarh district, and Mohammad Alam, 20, a resident of Khudabaksh Agai village, were students of Class 12, officials said.
They were returning home on a motorcycle after attending computer classes when a container truck hit a bicycle ridden by Sakshi, causing it to collide with their vehicle, they said.
As a result, all three fell on the road, and the container ran over them, killing Mahfuz and Alam on the spot, while seriously injuring Sakshi, officials said.
Locals rushed her to the Community Health Centre in Salon from where doctors referred her to the district hospital, they said.
Soon after the incident, family members of the deceased and local residents gathered at the spot and staged a protest. Police officers reached the spot and calmed down the protesters.
Circle Officer Yadvendra Bahadur Pal said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and further action will be taken upon receiving a formal complaint.
