
Assam CM distributes cheques to women entrepreneurs in Jalukbari
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today distributed cheques of ₹10,000 each to women entrepreneurs under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan (MMUA) in the Jalukbari Assembly constituency.
The programme was held at the Swahid Smarak Kshetra in Boragaon, Guwahati, where nearly 8,000 women from Self-Help Groups received the financial assistance. Guwahati mayor Mrigen Sarania and other officials were also present.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched key digital portals to simplify and digitize administrative processes of the Panchayat & Rural Development Department.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the initiative aims to transform women into financially independent entrepreneurs. He announced that the next instalment of ₹25,000 will be provided next year, followed by ₹50,000 in the third phase. He also assured that 50 per cent of shops under flyovers and near medical colleges will be reserved for women entrepreneurs.
