
Mumbai, February 17 A bus operated by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) caught fire on the Western Express Highway in Mumbai's Kandivali area on Tuesday night, officials said.
No one was injured in the incident, and all passengers were safely evacuated, an official said.
"The fire broke out in the CNG-run bus of the BEST near the Sai Dham temple in Kandivali east. All passengers were safely evacuated, and no one was injured," he said.
Personnel from the police department and the fire brigade were alerted, and they quickly responded to the scene, initiating a firefighting operation, he added.
According to preliminary information, the fire originated in the engine section of the vehicle.
As a result of the incident, traffic on the Western Express Highway was disrupted for some time, and vehicles were asked to use an alternative route, the official said.
