New Delhi, February 24 Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid the foundation stones for projects worth Rs 264 crore in Mundka on Tuesday, stating that her government is bringing villages that have been neglected in development to the forefront.

The development projects in Mundka include 49 projects aimed at bringing urban facilities to the rural areas of the city, according to a statement from the Delhi CMO.

In the last year, the Delhi government has initiated development projects worth Rs 1,600 crore in the rural areas of Delhi, Gupta said, addressing a gathering in Mundka.

The chief minister stated that once these projects are completed, the Mundka Assembly constituency will experience improved connectivity, access to clean drinking water, better sewerage systems, and strengthened educational and healthcare facilities.

She described these initiatives as significant steps towards bringing rural Delhi in line with urban standards.

North West Delhi MP Yogender Chandolia, Development Minister Kapil Mishra, local MLA Gahender Drall, and chairman of Delhi Gramin Vikas Board Raj Kumar Chauhan were present at the event.

Gupta said that previous governments in Delhi "neglected" villages, resulting in long-standing issues such as broken roads, dilapidated drainage, and a lack of schools, hospitals, and colleges in the capital's rural areas.

She asserted that these areas are now firmly integrated into the mainstream of growth and development. A budget allocation of Rs 1,000 crore has been specifically made for village development to ensure planned and accelerated progress, she added.
