To illuminate the city, the Kathua Municipal Council and JAKEDA are beginning to install solar street lights in several strategic locations. The installation will begin on Canal Road, which connects to DC Office Road. According to Nirjev Dev Singh, an officer in the Kathua Municipal Council's Street Light Electricity Wing, the government has sent 168 solar street lights to be installed in key locations and to cover areas that were previously unlit, in order to conserve electricity and brighten the city. Furthermore, this will meet the public's demand for street lighting, and solar lights are more reliable in all weather conditions.
