A young farmer from the Salmeri village in Udhampur has become a successful entrepreneur through mushroom cultivation, with support from government schemes and the agriculture department.
Abhishek Sharma, who started mushroom farming with technical guidance from the Agriculture Department of Jammu and Kashmir, said that the initiative has helped him earn a stable income and achieve self-sufficiency.
"I am grateful to the agriculture department for their guidance and assistance in growing mushrooms. The central government schemes have been a great help, enabling me to earn a decent income from this venture," said Abhishek.
He added that the department provided significant support, including a subsidy of about 50 percent for setting up the mushroom cultivation unit, which encouraged him to start the venture.
According to Abhishek, mushroom farming has proven to be a profitable agricultural business, and the income generated from selling the produce has helped him improve his livelihood.
His success story is inspiring many young farmers in the region and highlights the potential of mushroom cultivation as an alternative source of income in agriculture.
Abhishek also thanked the Central Government for launching schemes aimed at empowering youth and promoting self-reliance through agriculture and related sectors.
