Muzaffarnagar (UP), February 23 A 55-year-old Dalit man was found dead in the village of Morna in Muzaffarnagar, with stab wounds on his neck, and police said on Monday that his daughters killed him after he restricted them.

The man, identified as Ram Persad, was attacked by his daughters, who are 32 and 16 years old, while he was sleeping, Station House Officer Jasvir Singh told reporters. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.

Police said that there had been heated exchanges between the father and his daughters just before he went to sleep.

The daughters, police said, confessed that they killed their father because they were angry at the constant restrictions he imposed on them and at the way he "hindered them in everything".

The older daughter, Komal, was arrested, while the other, a minor, was detained, and the weapon used in the crime, along with the man's blood-stained clothes, was seized from the house. A murder case has been registered, Additional SP (Rural) Aditya Bansal said.

A detailed investigation is underway.
