Nagaland Congress Addresses Election Concerns and FCR Act.webp

April 7, Kohima: The Congress Party has appealed for peaceful, free, and fair elections in the upcoming by-election to the Koridang Assembly Constituency in the Mokokchung district.

Speaking at a press conference in Kohima today, senior party leaders including Lok Sabha MP and AICC in-charge of Nagaland, Saptagiri Shankar Ulaka, and NPCC Vice President, Captain GK Zhimomi, condemned the recent incidents of violence ahead of the polls.

They expressed condolences to the bereaved family and wished for a speedy recovery to those who were injured.

The party stated that democracy cannot function under fear, and urged voters to participate without fear.

On another issue, the Congress alleged that recent amendments to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act were restrictive and would adversely affect civil society groups and minority institutions by limiting access to funding and curbing their functioning.

Polling is scheduled for Thursday, April 9.
