
March 2, Kohima: Nagaland Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla outlined the State Government's vision of becoming an effective partner in the national journey towards "Developed India."
Delivering his inaugural address at the commencement of Phase I of the NLA Session, the Governor said his Government shares the national vision of "Developed India 2047" and aspires to transform Nagaland into a developed state by 2047.
He also stated that the Government will soon complete three years in office and expressed happiness that during this period it has endeavoured to fulfil the trust reposed in it by the people. He conveyed gratitude to the citizens and to the House for their unwavering support and cooperation.
Mr. Bhalla reaffirmed that his Government remains committed to a peaceful resolution of the Naga Political Issue.
Congratulating the people of Eastern Nagaland on the historic signing of the Memorandum of Agreement on the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), he described the agreement as a testament to the Government's steadfast commitment to ensuring equitable and inclusive development in Eastern Nagaland and addressing the aspirations of all sections and communities in the State.
He said, the state Government is working on constituting the Interim Council for FNTA in consultation with ENPO and the Tribal Hohos of Eastern Nagaland. The State Government will also be moving soon for enactment of a Special Legislation for constitution of FNTA in consultation with the Home Affairs Ministry as provided in the Memorandum of Agreement.
Emphasising the importance of the Census exercise, the Governor said the first phase for the state of Nagaland will be conducted from July 1 to 30, 2026, while the option for self-enumeration will made available from June 16 to 30.
He requested members to extend full cooperation to the State's administrative machinery to ensure the proper and successful conduct of the Census.
Highlighting the achievements of the Government, Mr. Bhalla said it remains committed to human resource development in every aspect, describing it as the most crucial component for taking the State to a higher growth trajectory.
The Governor expressed confidence that the Session would witness constructive deliberations on matters of public importance while upholding the highest democratic standards.
