Nagpur, March 24 The administration in Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Tuesday dismissed rumors of a fuel shortage, assuring citizens that there was ample stock of petrol, diesel, and gas in the district, as people flocked to petrol pumps across the city.
The fear of a fuel shortage, in the context of the US-Israel war on Iran, which has caused a severe global fuel supply crisis, triggered panic buying in the district.
People were seen braving the scorching heat and lining up with their vehicles at petrol pumps in Nagpur.
In light of the situation, District Collector Vipin Itankar issued a statement, assuring that there was ample stock of petrol, diesel, and gas in the district, and the administration was monitoring the situation.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Nagpur Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule are regularly reviewing the situation, he said, urging citizens not to believe rumors and to purchase according to their needs.
Citizens need not panic, as there is no crisis in the district, Itankar said, warning of police action against individuals spreading rumors and false information about essential services.
He further stated that the central and state governments have provided clear information regarding petrol, diesel, gas, and other energy sources.
