Amaravati, April 2 Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said on Thursday that Amaravati is now secure and permanent as the capital of Andhra Pradesh, following the passage of a bill in Parliament.

The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which will prevent any future attempts to change the decision to make Amaravati the capital of the southern state, was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Thursday and the Lok Sabha on April 1.

"Amaravati's status as the capital is now firmly established, beyond any doubt, beyond any debate, and beyond any change. Amaravati is unstoppable, the heart of Andhra Pradesh, and a future source of pride for the nation," Naidu said in a post on 'X'.

The CM thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support for Amaravati, noting that it was an unwavering commitment to the aspirations of the southern state. He also thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The bill will now be sent for Presidential approval.
