Naidu Praises LS Nod for Amaravati Capital.webp

Amaravati, April 1 Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated on Wednesday that Amaravati will remain the sole capital of the state, declaring that "no one can touch it" in the future.

He expressed satisfaction over the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, which seeks to grant statutory status to Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a public meeting during the 'Pedala Sevalo' (At the Service of the Poor) programme at Vinjamuru in Nellore district, the Chief Minister said that Amaravati symbolizes the self-respect of the people of Andhra Pradesh.

He termed the approval of the Bill in the Lok Sabha as a matter of pride for the state and said it removes uncertainties surrounding the capital's future.

The Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with leaders of various parties who supported the Bill. He also criticised previous regimes for creating confusion with a three-capitals proposal and alleged that they neglected legislative responsibility on the capital issue.

Meanwhile, in a post on X, he said that this marked a historic and emotional moment for the state.

"With the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, recognizing Amaravati as our sole Praja Rajadhani, the collective aspirations of millions have found expression on the floor of the nation's Parliament," he said.

"On behalf of my people of Andhra Pradesh, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Union NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making this moment possible and for taking this decisive step towards securing our capital. I also extend my sincere thanks to every party and Member of Parliament who spoke in support of the Bill. It was truly heartening to witness unity across party lines in support of Andhra Pradesh and in recognition of the sacrifices made by our farmers. I sincerely hope that the Bill will receive similar support in the Rajya Sabha," he added.
