Patna, March 26 Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday unveiled development projects and schemes worth around Rs 1,866 crore in Nalanda and Patna districts as part of his 'Samridhi Yatra', officials said.
The CM also reviewed ongoing schemes and development projects in both districts.
According to a statement by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Kumar inaugurated 110 projects worth Rs 316 crore and laid foundation stones for 106 schemes worth Rs 494 crore in Nalanda district.
The CM inaugurated a 1,620-metre-long flyover at Bharavpar on the Bihar Sharif–Ranchi Road, constructed at a cost of Rs 84.81 crore, and inspected the structure after its inauguration.
He also visited the Kosuk Riverfront project site in Kosuk village to review embankment strengthening and riverfront development works on the Panchane River.
During his visit to Nalanda, crowds raised slogans urging Kumar not to resign as the chief minister.
Security personnel later brought the situation under control.
Kumar, who filed his Rajya Sabha nomination earlier this month and was declared elected, is expected to step down soon, ending his tenure as Bihar’s longest-serving chief minister.
Later in the day, the CM launched 1,373 development projects/schemes worth around Rs 1,056 crore in Patna district. He inaugurated 761 projects costing Rs 473 crore and laid foundation stones for 612 schemes worth Rs 583 crore.
He also addressed a gathering at Patna's Samrat Ashoka's convention centre.
BJP's national president Nitin Naveen, who also attended the function, said, "Through the CM's Samridhi Yatra', an atmosphere of celebration has been created in Bihar."
He added, "The CM brought Bihar out of a phase of hopelessness and connected it with development through renewed confidence. Today, every resident feels proud."
Nabin also acknowledged the role of the central government, saying, "After 2014, with the formation of a double-engine government, Bihar received strong support from the central government. Earlier, there was only one bridge over the Ganga, but today, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar, more than half a dozen bridges have been constructed."
Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with several state ministers and officials, were present on the occasion.
