Palghar, February 27 A 24-year-old man was killed by stabbing in front of his wife in Nalasopara East, Maharashtra, on Friday, reportedly due to a dispute over a WhatsApp profile picture, according to a police official.
The incident occurred at 4:30 am in the Hanuman Nagar area, the official added.
"Mehndi Hassan Sheikh (25) stabbed Aftab Sheikh in front of his wife after an argument over the WhatsApp profile picture of Mehndi's son," he said. "Aftab died on the spot."
Residents of the area claimed that Mehndi was a Bangladeshi national who had previously served a sentence for a serious crime, although a police official said that all these aspects are currently being investigated.
Mehndi was apprehended shortly after the incident and has been charged with murder, according to the Nalasopara police station official.
