Namo Bharat Corridor Expanded: Modi Flags Off New Projects.webp

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially launch the Meerut Metro and the Namo Bharat train at the Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat station in Meerut this afternoon. He will also take a ride on the metro to the Meerut South station. Afterwards, Mr. Modi will inaugurate and dedicate various development projects worth approximately 12,930 crore rupees in Meerut. He will also address the audience on the occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the entire 82-kilometer Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor to the nation. He will also inaugurate the remaining sections of India's first Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). These include the 5-kilometer section between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, and the 21-kilometer section between Meerut South and Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh. With a design speed of 180 km per hour, Namo Bharat is India's first Regional Rapid Transit System. It will connect major urban centers such as Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Meerut with Delhi at a faster pace. Sarai Kale Khan, the starting station of the corridor, is one of the four Namo Bharat stations that will be inaugurated today.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Meerut Metro services between Meerut South and Modipuram, which operates on the same infrastructure as Namo Bharat, in a pioneering initiative in the country. The Meerut Metro will be India's fastest metro system, with a maximum operational speed of approximately 120 kilometers per hour. It will cover the entire stretch in just 30 minutes, with all scheduled stops along the way.

This seamless integration of Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro on the same infrastructure will ensure high-speed intercity travel and swift intra-city movement, setting a benchmark for integrated urban and regional transit in India.
