Nandigram & Bhabanipur: BJP Leader Faces Opposition in Bengal Campaign.webp

Kolkata, April 1 BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari faced protests from TMC supporters while campaigning in his Nandigram constituency in Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal and later in Bhabanipur in South Kolkata.

Adhikari, who is also the leader of the opposition in the state Assembly, is contesting both Nandigram and Bhabanipur, the constituency of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

At both locations, TMC supporters shouted slogans such as 'Joy Bangla' (Victory to Bengal) and 'Sisirbabur Chheleta' (failed son of veteran politician Sisir Adhikari).

Adhikari got down from his vehicle to confront the protesters.

"You (TMC) may try to disrupt me in whatever way you want. But you are aware that the people of Nandigram are not with you. They will respond on May 4," he said, as BJP supporters accompanying him chanted 'Joy Shree Ram' (Victory to Lord Rama) and 'Chor TMC Sarkar, Paltano Darkar' (We need to change this corrupt regime).
