Narayanasamy Threatens Resignation Over Medical Seat Allegations.webp

Puducherry, April 8 Senior Congress leader V Narayanasamy said on Wednesday that he would quit politics if Union Home Minister Amit Shah could prove that he had sold medical seats meant for SC and ST students in Puducherry.

He said that he was ready for any inquiry, whether it was a judicial investigation, an investigation by the Income Tax department, or by the CBI.

He was referring to the allegations the home minister had made during his recent election campaign in Puducherry.

According to the Congress leader, Shah had said that the Congress rule (between 2016 and 2021, led by Narayanasamy) in Puducherry had sold medical seats meant for SC and ST students and had helped the grand old party use the union territory as its ATM to siphon off Rs 15,000 crore from here.

Narayanasamy in a video message said, "It was absolutely a baseless charge, and the home minister's intention was to tarnish the image of the Congress and also his."

He asked if Shah had any proof. "If the charge is proven, I am ready to quit politics. On the other hand, if the home minister does not prove the allegation, he should step down from the post."

Narayanasamy also listed several "malpractices" that the NDA government had adopted during its five-year rule in Puducherry.

He appealed to the people to ensure that the INDIA bloc, comprising the Congress, the DMK, and the VCK, returns to power after the April 9 polls, and "people should drive away the NDA, comprising the AINRC, BJP, and its other constituents, so that the future of the next generation will be safe and secure."
