
Nashik, April 11 Four people were killed, three of whom were charred, and seven were injured in an accident involving a truck and a pick-up vehicle that caught fire in the Nashik district of Maharashtra in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
The accident occurred near Shindewadi Shivar on the Shaha-Panchale road in the Sinnar taluka, they said.
According to officials, nearly a dozen people were on their way home from Panchale village to Pangri after attending a religious program at a relative's house.
Around 1:15 am, a truck traveling from the opposite direction hit the pick-up vehicle they were in, dragging it for nearly 100 feet. The pick-up vehicle then caught fire, they said.
Three occupants of the pick-up vehicle were killed, while an elderly woman who was traveling with them died due to the mental trauma, officials said. As many as seven occupants of the pick-up vehicle sustained injuries, they said.
The deceased have been identified as Kiran Ravi More (23), Shubham Ganesh Navale (21), Rinku Shubham Navale (19), and Mirabai Vishwanath Gangurde (68).
The truck driver has been arrested, and the Sinnar MIDC police are investigating the matter, an official said.
