
Nashik, March 19 An executive engineer and an accountant from the Zilla Parishad were arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau in Nashik for allegedly seeking and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000, an official said on Thursday.
Executive engineer Vaishali Thakare (42) and senior assistant accountant Arun Dharankar from the Nashik Zilla Parishad's small irrigation department had sought the bribe from a contractor in exchange for clearing his work bills amounting to Rs 16.19 lakh, the official said.
"They were apprehended while accepting the Rs 50,000 bribe in the old Zilla Parishad building here on Wednesday. They have been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is underway," he added.
