Nationwide HPV Vaccination Drive Begins in Jammu.webp

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 26: Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Vidhu Shekhar, chaired a District Task Force meeting to review preparations for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination drive, which begins on February 28, 2026.

Health officials briefed the meeting on logistics, vaccine availability, awareness measures, and arrangements for smooth implementation. The drive targets 14-year-old girls (who have not yet reached 15 years) to protect them against cervical cancer, the second most common cancer among women in India.

It was informed that vaccination will be carried out at 28 designated government health facilities across the district, including Gandhi Nagar Government Hospital, SMGS Hospital, and Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, as part of a 90-day nationwide campaign by the Government of India.

The ADC assigned roles to relevant departments to ensure effective coordination, maximum outreach, and successful execution of the vaccination drive.
