Members of the organizations have put up posters in the Shakumbhari Devi temple area, demanding that non-Hindus should not be allowed to enter the Navratri fair and that business opportunities during the event should only be given to Hindus.
VHP district secretary Yogesh Chauhan said the Navratri fair, beginning March 19, draws a large number of devotees every year and therefore, commercial activities at the event should be carried out by members of the Hindu community.
He said that if anyone is found hiding his identity or disguising himself to engage in any activity during the fair, members of the local Hindu community would oppose it.
District administration officials said they are looking into the matter.
