Aizawl, March 31, 2026: In a major initiative aimed at youth empowerment and nation-building, Colonel Sagar K Mohanty, Commanding Officer of the 2 Mizo Battalion NCC, met with the Honorable Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Lalduhoma, yesterday, to inform him about recent developments and the expansion of NCC activities in South Mizoram.
During the meeting, Colonel Mohanty highlighted the organization of the first-ever NCC Fest and Parasailing Camp in Mizoram, to be held in Lunglei and scheduled from May 5th to 11th, a pioneering initiative designed to raise awareness about NCC and encourage young people to join its ranks. The event aims to instill discipline, confidence, and a spirit of adventure in young individuals, guiding them towards becoming responsible citizens and active contributors to nation-building.
The upcoming festival will feature interactive sessions with prominent state dignitaries and senior military officials, providing cadets and young people with valuable exposure and inspiration. A variety of attractions will be set up, including informative NCC stalls, weapon displays by the Border Security Force, Assam Rifles, and Territorial Army, interactions with NCC alumni, and exhibitions showcasing local handloom and traditional crafts. In addition, traditional food stalls will highlight the rich cultural heritage of Mizoram, making the event both educational and culturally enriching.
The Honorable Chief Minister praised the visionary efforts of Colonel Sagar K Mohanty and commended the initiative as a significant step towards the holistic development and upliftment of Mizoram's youth. He emphasized the vital role of NCC in shaping character, leadership, and unity among the younger generation. He also expressed his consent to attend the event in Lunglei, reflecting his strong support for such initiatives.
