New Delhi, March 31 The New Delhi Municipal Council announced on Tuesday that it will institutionalize its women-focused art workshop, "Shakti," as an annual cultural program, while also announcing plans to establish a sculpture park at Nehru Park.
The announcement came after the five-day workshop, organized in collaboration with Triveni Kala Sangam, concluded with an exhibition showcasing the works of 20 women artists from across India.
The workshop, held from March 27 to 31, focused on the theme of "Shakti," exploring feminine power, identity, and resilience through contemporary artistic practices.
NDMC Vice-Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal inaugurated the exhibition and felicitated the participants, calling art a "powerful medium" for social expression and transformation.
He said the initiative would now be a recurring platform to amplify women's voices in art while encouraging dialogue on empowerment and inclusion.
Additionally, Chahal said NDMC is moving forward with its plan to develop a sculpture park in Nehru Park.
The workshop brought together established artists such as Seema Kohli, Kanchan Chander, and Vasundhara Tewari Broota, among others, whose works reflected a blend of traditional symbolism and modern perspectives on women's roles in society.
