New Delhi, March 27 The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) inaugurated a five-day women's art workshop at Triveni Kala Sangam on Friday, bringing together 20 artists to explore themes of identity, empowerment, and social change.

"Shakti: Celebrating Women in Indian Culture and Society" will conclude on March 31 with a public exhibition of artwork created during the workshop.

The inauguration was attended by NDMC Vice-Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal, along with contemporary artist Rameshwar Broota. Artists such as Seema Kohli, Bula Bhattacharya, Sangeeta Murthy, and Vasundhara Tewari Broota are participating, reflecting the diversity of contemporary Indian art.

Chahal said that the initiative would now become an annual feature of NDMC's cultural calendar, aimed at providing a sustained platform for women artists.

“Art has always been a powerful medium for expressing identity, resistance, and transformation,” Chahal said, adding that the workshop seeks to capture the evolving journey of women in India across time.

The workshop aligns with NDMC’s broader vision of recognizing women not merely as beneficiaries of development, "but as active contributors to cultural, social, and economic progress," Chahal said.
