Mumbai, February 17 Nepal won the toss and chose to bowl first against Scotland in Match 33 of Group C of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.
Both teams are out of contention for the Super 8 and are playing for bragging rights. The West Indies and England have already advanced from this group, with six points each from three wins.
Nepal made one change, with Sundeep Jora replacing Karan K.C. in the playing XI, while Scotland decided to field the same squad.
Nepal captain Rohit Paudel was happy to win the toss and said he chose to bowl first because he wanted his bowlers to take advantage of the early assistance offered by the pitch.
"The pitch has been difficult in the first four-five overs, which is a challenging task, but we can capitalize on it. We need to make the most of the first overs. Collectively, we played well in the first game, but we didn't meet expectations. We want good partnerships," said Paudel.
Scotland captain Richie Berrington said he would have also preferred to bowl first. "In the first game on this pitch, you need to adapt well. We have shown some good performances so far."
Asked about his success against spin so far in the tournament, Berrington said, "Playing spin is one of my strengths. I hope to do well again tonight."
