In Nepal, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), led by the popular candidate for Prime Minister, Balendra Shah, is poised to achieve a decisive victory in the first general elections since the violent protests by the younger generation in the Himalayan nation.

According to the latest data from the Election Commission, final results have been announced for 28 out of the 165 constituencies. The Rastriya Swatantra Party has won 20 seats and is leading in 97 constituencies under the first-past-the-post system.

The Nepali Congress has won five seats and is leading in 9, the UML has won one seat and is leading in 13, the Nepali Communist Party has won two seats and is leading in 10, and the Shram Sanskriti party is leading in 5 constituencies. Counting of votes is still in progress.

Out of a total of 275 members of Parliament, 165 were elected through direct voting, while the remaining 110 were elected using a proportional representation method.

Approximately 18.9 million voters were eligible to elect the members of the House of Representatives, with around 60 percent of them casting their votes on Thursday.
