March 03, New Delhi – The Himalayan nation is preparing for national elections on March 5. The Election Commission of Nepal has instructed monitoring officers to effectively implement the code of conduct until the day of voting.
More than 3,400 candidates are contesting in the March 5th elections.
Nearly 19 million people will participate in the ballot for the House of Representatives, the lower house of Nepal's parliament.
They will elect 275 members of parliament through a combination of first-past-the-post voting and proportional representation.
This will be the first general election the country has held since the deadly youth-led protests that toppled the government in September 2025.
