Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka: NCB Seizes Drug Trafficking Operation

Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka: NCB Seizes Drug Trafficking Operation.webp

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has dismantled an international drug trafficking network operating across Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka.

A coordinated operation by the NCB Chennai Zonal Unit, along with the Hyderabad Zonal Unit, resulted in the seizure of over 77 kilograms of hashish oil and 2 kilograms of charas.

A fishing boat used for transporting the contraband was also recovered. In a statement, the NCB said that five individuals, including a Sri Lankan refugee, have been arrested so far.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the charas and hashish oil were smuggled into India from Kathmandu in Nepal via the Sonauli Indo-Nepal border.

Approximately 78 kilograms of hashish oil had already been delivered by the arrested individuals in Thoothukudi, intended for further trafficking to Sri Lanka via sea route. The NCB's Chennai Unit took action and seized the hashish oil from them.
