Arjun Narasingha KC, the most senior member of the Nepalese House of Representatives, has taken the oath of office and secrecy. He was elected from the Nepali Congress party. President of Nepal, Ramchandra Paudel, administered the oath to him at an event held at the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas, today.

Arjun Narsingha KC was elected through the proportional representation system from the Nepali Congress in the House of Representatives election held on March 5. Now, after taking the oath from the President, KC will administer the oath of office and secrecy to all other 274 members of the House of Representatives on March 26. Until a Speaker is elected, he will also preside over the meetings of the House. Balendra Shah is expected to take oath as the new Prime Minister at Sheetal Niwas on Friday, March 27.

In the House of Representatives elections, 165 members were elected through the first-past-the-post system, while 110 were elected through the proportional representation system. The RSP has been the largest party, securing a significant mandate in Nepal with 182 seats.
