Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah interacted with the drivers (Sarathis) of Bharat Taxi in New Delhi. In a video released today, Mr. Shah said that the Bharat Taxi Cooperative aims to empower the drivers by giving them ownership over their work. He mentioned that the initiative focuses on addressing the problems associated with private taxi service companies and ensuring that the profits go to the drivers, not the cooperative.
The Minister further stated that the initiative is creating a platform for the welfare of drivers and the safety of passengers. Mr. Shah said that all information related to Bharat Taxi will be transparent and communicated to the Sarathis through notifications. He noted that the Bharat Taxi cooperative will become the most transparent taxi service in the world.
Highlighting the unique "Sarathi Didi" initiative of Bharat Taxi, the Minister said that this allows female passengers to choose female drivers for their rides. Mr. Shah also noted that the Sarathis of Bharat Taxi will receive insurance benefits and easy loan facilities.
