
A three-day training program on "Cyber Investigation and Mobile Forensics" began at the Conference Hall of the District Police Lines (DPL), Jammu, with the aim of enhancing cybercrime investigation skills among police officers.
The course was inaugurated by Bhim Sen Tuti, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, in the presence of Shamsheer Hussain and trainees from various districts within the Jammu Zone.
Addressing the participants, IGP Tuti emphasized the growing importance of cyber investigation in light of the increasing number of cyber-enabled offenses. He stressed the need to equip investigating officers with updated technical knowledge and a solid understanding of the law to effectively handle digital evidence and ensure successful prosecution.
Over the next three days, the program will focus on key aspects of cyber investigation, including the proper handling and preservation of digital evidence, maintaining the chain of custody, and adhering to legal and procedural safeguards. Special emphasis will be placed on preparing digital seizure memos and conducting digital seizures in a way that withstands judicial scrutiny.
Sessions will also cover relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023, particularly those concerning the admissibility and evidentiary value of electronic records.
Expert officers in cyber investigation and mobile forensics will conduct technical sessions, case studies, and practical demonstrations. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance cyber policing capabilities and institutional capacity to address emerging digital threats professionally and in accordance with the law.
