
March 17th, Aizawl: Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that the finalized master plan reflects the collective will of the people, incorporating suggestions from various sections of society. Aimed at transforming central Aizawl into a vibrant, inclusive recreational space for all ages, the CM clarified that the current blueprint is definitive and no further proposals will be entertained.
The mega-redevelopment project features several major infrastructural upgrades, including: Road Development: A new road connecting Saron Veng to the Head Post Office and the widening of city-center roads, with Rs 23 crore already sanctioned. New Vanapa Hall: A modern facility with a 2,000-seat capacity, auditoriums, and ample parking. The architectural design will be selected through a public competition. Public Spaces: The creation of "Aizawl Square," an open amphitheater, green walking trails, and public parks at Canteen Square and Baja Hill. Infrastructure: A large water reservoir (Tuizem), a dedicated power substation, and multi-level car parking. Heritage Redevelopment: Rs 13 crore has been allocated to beautify and redevelop the Heritage Court and surrounding areas.
The event was attended by UD & PA Minister K. Sapdanga, MLAs, and other dignitaries. Preparatory works and machinery mobilization for the project are already underway.
