New Measures to Protect Hangul and Reduce Boar Interactions

New Measures to Protect Hangul and Reduce Boar Interactions.webp

JAMMU, MARCH 28: Minister of Forests, Ecology, and Environment, Javed Ahmad Rana, stated that the Wildlife Department has implemented measures to mitigate the conflict between humans and wild boars around the Dachigam National Park, including the New Theed village.

These measures include a 3 km cement wall along chain-link fences, anti-plastic campaigns, a 24-hour Dachigam Control Room, village awareness programs, and patrolling using noise guns and firecrackers. No human injuries have been reported.

The population of Hangul continues to steadily increase—from 183 in 2015 to 323 in 2025—indicating that wild boars have not negatively impacted their growth.
