Near the Kathua district headquarters, a Government Homoeopathy Medical College—the first of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir—will be established on approximately 57 acres of land at Rakh Hoshiyari in the Jasrota Assembly constituency.
This ambitious project, estimated to cost around ₹52.68 crore, will provide a new direction to medical education in the region and significantly improve the standard of healthcare services.
The boundary wall of the college at Rakh Hoshiyari has already been completed, and construction of the main building is expected to begin soon.
Jasrota MLA Rajiv Jasrotia, in a conversation with DD News, stated that the construction of this college will not only provide better healthcare facilities to the public but will also offer local youth the opportunity to pursue higher education within their own region. This will reduce the need for them to move to other states for studies and will also create new employment opportunities.
The MLA expressed gratitude to Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh for this project, stating that it was his initiative that made the launch of this important project possible.
Local residents have also welcomed the decision, stating that the establishment of such a medical college in the kandi area is a major achievement. They added that it will accelerate regional development, create employment opportunities, and ensure a brighter future for the youth.
