
March 15, New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday announced a major push for healthcare infrastructure in Assam, launching projects worth nearly ₹2,092 crore.
At an event in Guwahati, the Union Home Minister inaugurated the Prag-jyotishpur Medical College and Hospital, built at a cost of around ₹675 crore to strengthen medical education and expand healthcare access in the region.
He also virtually inaugurated two cancer care centres in Golaghat and Tinsukia, developed under the Assam Cancer Care Foundation with an investment of about ₹135 crore each.
During the programme, Shah laid the foundation stones for super-speciality hospital facilities at medical colleges in Diphu, Jorhat and Barpeta.
Addressing a public gathering, Amit Shah also commended the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, for his dedication to strengthening healthcare services in the state.
