Mumbai, March 10 Eleven new additional collector offices will be established in Maharashtra to improve revenue administration and provide faster services to citizens, State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Tuesday.

Bawankule informed the state assembly that the move aims to decentralize administration and make revenue services more accessible, especially in places where people have to travel long distances to reach the district headquarters.

With the state's population surging, remote areas facing geographical challenges, and administrative workloads escalating rapidly, these new offices will eliminate the need for citizens to undertake long, arduous journeys to district headquarters, he said.

Senior revenue expertise will now be available right at their doorstep, ensuring quicker resolution of land, revenue, and related matters, he said.

New additional collector offices will be set up in Thane, Ratnagiri, Baramati (Pune district), Satara, Solapur, Jalgaon, Nanded, Yavatmal, Buldhana and Nagpur, the minister said.

To further ease the burden on the Settlement Commissioner's office, two additional collector posts have also been sanctioned at that level.

A total of 143 new posts will be created, as cleared by the high-level secretaries' committee, and each new office will be equipped with 13 dedicated officers and staff, he said.

Responding to Congress MLA Nana Patole's demand for similar facilities in Sakoli (Bhandara district) and Hinganghat (Wardha district), Bawankule assured the House that after the 2027 Census, district restructuring can be reviewed.

"For now, we are committed to taking administration directly to the people through these additional collector offices. A dedicated meeting on Sakoli and Hinganghat will be held soon," he said.

The minister said that the government is considering establishing independent tehsil offices in every urban assembly constituency.

In-depth consultations with the Revenue Department are underway, and a firm policy decision will follow soon, he added.

Bawankule stated that proposals for 69 new additional tehsildar offices and 10 new Prant offices are in the final stages of approval, and once rolled out, these reforms will completely reshape Maharashtra's revenue system, making it faster, more transparent, and genuinely citizen-focused.
