New Rice Varieties Introduced in Mizoram's Lunglei District.webp

March 12th, Aizawl: Today, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Lunglei District, Hnahthial, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Indian Institute of Rice Research (ICAR-IIRR), Hyderabad, jointly organized an awareness program on the newly introduced, highly nutrient-rich rice varieties, DRR Dhan 67 and 69. The event was held at the South Vanlaiphai Community Hall.

The program was chaired by Dr. Henry Saplalrinliana, Senior Scientist & Head of KVK Lunglei. During the session, Dr. C.N. Neeraja, Principal Scientist, and Dr. Kalyani M. Barbadikar, Senior Scientist from ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad, educated the local farmers about these newly developed rice varieties. Following the informative session, seeds of the new rice varieties were distributed to the attending farmers.

Furthermore, Mr. Timothy Lalrinfela, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science), provided training on the application of Soil Test Kits, which included a live practical demonstration. The gathered agricultural experts also held an interactive session with the local cultivators and distributed various essential agricultural inputs required for crop maintenance and cultivation.
