
Gairsain, March 13 The Uttarakhand government announced on Friday that it would establish a language training center in Almora. This will be the second such center in the state after Dehradun.
The state's Minister for Skill Development, Saurabh Bahuguna, made this announcement during the ongoing Budget session in the state's summer capital, Gairsain.
He informed that the 'Chief Minister's Skill Upgradation and Global Employment Scheme' was launched in 2023, under which the first language training center was established in Dehradun.
Bahuguna explained that under this initiative, students are being provided training in various languages for a duration of eight to ten months, and arrangements for their employment are being facilitated through the center.
He stated that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has issued directives to increase the number of such centers so that the maximum number of youths can benefit from the scheme.
The minister said that for this purpose, the training budget has been increased from Rs 75 lakh to Rs 3.3 crore.
He further informed that in less than three years, 147 students have received training in foreign languages, and 92 of them have secured jobs in various countries such as Germany, Japan, and Saudi Arabia.
He also provided assurance that, amidst the prevailing conflict in West Asia, the state government is taking care of individuals who have secured employment abroad through this scheme.
Bahuguna mentioned that he has spoken with 30 individuals currently working in Saudi Arabia, and all of them are completely safe.
