Ramban, March 26: Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, closely oversaw the road clearance operations after a massive landslide blocked National Highway 44 (NH-44) between Karol and Chanderkote.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Raja Adil Hameed, along with other officials, was present during the operation.

The Deputy Commissioner personally supervised the efforts and directed all concerned agencies to act in a coordinated and timely manner. Responding swiftly, teams and machinery from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were deployed to remove debris and restore traffic flow.

Thanks to the prompt action and coordinated efforts of all stakeholders, traffic movement on both sides of the highway was restored within a short time. Meanwhile, ongoing maintenance and slope stabilization work continues to ensure the long-term safety of the stretch.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of continuous monitoring of vulnerable points along the highway and instructed officials to remain on high alert. He also commended the field teams, Traffic Police, District Police, and NHAI personnel for their quick and dedicated response.

The District Administration has advised commuters to drive cautiously on the affected stretch and strictly follow traffic advisories. People have also been urged to avoid unnecessary travel due to intermittent shooting stones and to cooperate with authorities to ensure public safety.
