RAMBAN, March 1: Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, inspected the ongoing four-lane construction on the Nashri–Banihal stretch of the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) to review progress and safety measures.

Accompanied by SSP Arun Gupta and officials from the district administration and NHAI, the DC visited key project sites, including tunnels, viaducts, and vulnerable landslide-prone areas. He assessed the progress on tunnel excavation, bridge construction, and slope stabilization works aimed at ensuring all-weather connectivity.

Directing NHAI engineers to expedite the work, he emphasized the timely completion of tunnels and viaducts. He also called for strengthened safety measures, such as retaining walls, drainage systems, and crash barriers, at vulnerable locations.

Later, the DC reviewed developmental and drainage works in Ramban town and instructed the Municipal Committee and PWD officials to accelerate the execution within the set timelines.
