NIA Files Charges in Assam Rifles Ambush Case.webp

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charges against three members of the banned People's Liberation Army (PLA) terrorist organization in the Assam Rifles truck ambush case, in which two personnel of the paramilitary force were killed in Manipur last year. According to a press release issued by the agency, the chargesheet filed before the NIA Special Court in Imphal yesterday names all three men under various sections of the BNS, Arms Act, Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, the Explosive Substances Act, and the UA (P) Act.

The attack on the 33rd Assam Rifles truck took place at Nambol Sabal Leikai in the Bishnupur area of Manipur in September 2025. NIA investigations have revealed that on the day of the attack, PLA members, armed with prohibited firearms and explosive substances, had gathered at the Nambol Sabal Leikai crossing and ambushed the truck. The truck was damaged in the ambush, which resulted in the death of two Assam Rifles personnel and serious injuries to five others. The NIA, which took over the investigation from the local police in November 2025, is continuing its investigation in the case.
