The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at multiple locations in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir today in connection with a case involving terror involvement and funding, officials said.
According to sources, the searches were carried out in connection with FIR No. 7/24 registered by the NIA. Several premises suspected to be linked with individuals involved in terror activities and funding networks were searched during the operation.
Official sources said the raids were part of an ongoing investigation into alleged terror financing and support to militant groups operating in the region. Teams of the NIA, assisted by local police and security forces, conducted searches to collect evidence related to financial transactions, communication records, and other materials linked to the case.
The operation was carried out at multiple locations across the district early in the morning. Sources added that documents, digital devices, and other materials suspected to have links with terror funding activities are being examined by investigators.
Police sources said the raids were carried out at the residences of: (1) Abdul Aziz, son of Abdul Rehman, resident of Hari, Tehsil Surankote, Poonch district; (2) Munawar Hussain, son of Roshan Din, resident of Hari, Tehsil Surankote, Poonch district; and (3) Faroz Din, son of Abdul Ghulam din, resident of Hari, Tehsil Surankote, Poonch district.
According to police, Abdul Aziz and Munawar Hussain were already in police custody, while Faroz Din, a retired employee, was at his residence when the NIA team raided his house.
It is important to note that Abdul Aziz and Munawar Hussain were arrested in Surankote, and a FIR No. 228/2024 dated 18/10/2024 U/S 113, 61(2), 147, 149 BNS 4/5 ESA 13/18/23/39 UAPA was registered at PS Surankote. The case was transferred to the NIA in October 2024.
According to sources, the NIA team scrutinized every aspect of the houses and meticulously examined every item in the raided houses. The NIA team also seized some electronic gadgets and important documents from the raided locations.
