Patna, March 21 JD(U) spokespersons and media panelists interacted with Nishant Kumar, the son and apparent heir of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Saturday. Kumar is expected to soon relinquish his position following his election to the Rajya Sabha.

JD(U) leaders were summoned to 1, Anney Marg, the official residence of the CM, for the nearly two-hour-long interaction, which took place in the evening.

"It was a productive discussion that focused on the way forward for the party organization. While Nishant ji was present throughout, the chief minister also made a brief, unscheduled appearance towards the end," JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad told reporters.

Party spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar said "we all returned with high spirits. Nishant ji spoke to us about the goodwill earned by his father during his long tenure".

"His understanding of the positive social changes brought about by his father, who has always insisted on a fair deal for every section of society, makes it clear that with him around, the party is in safe hands. The opportunity to meet our supreme leader was a bonus," Neeraj Kumar said.

The 44-year-old son of the JD(U) president, who joined the party a fortnight ago, days after his father filed nomination papers for Rajya Sabha polls and announced his intention to relinquish the seat, also shared photographs of the interaction on X.

"I interacted with my seniors in JD(U), of which I am an ordinary worker. I felt energized by their enthusiasm. I am fully confident in making the JD(U) family even stronger and achieving new heights," Nishant said.
