Puri, March 3 A period of mild tension prevailed near the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, on Tuesday, following a brief commotion among devotees celebrating 'Dola Purnima', officials said.

However, no injuries were reported, and the situation was quickly brought under control, they added.

"A woman devotee fell due to a defect in her clothing. Woman police officers assisted her, and she was able to stand up without any injury," Puri SP Prateek Singh told

A large number of devotees had gathered outside the temple on the occasion of 'Dola Purnima' on Tuesday.

A few hundred of them rushed towards the area where idols of gods and goddesses were placed on a temporary structure, leading to a brief congestion. The crowd quickly dispersed, and normal order was restored, the police said.
