Non-Compliance Leads to Show Cause Notice for Shimla School

Non-Compliance Leads to Show Cause Notice for Shimla School.webp

Shimla, March 20 The Himachal Pradesh Directorate of School Education issued a notice to the principal of the Government Senior Secondary School in Dhalli on Friday, alleging dereliction of duty and non-compliance with orders.

According to officials of the Directorate, the electricity connection of the Government Primary School in Dhalli, a cluster school under the said institution, was disconnected on January 27, 2026, due to non-payment of bills.

Despite having approximately Rs 15 lakh in the school's account and a clear government instruction authorizing principals of cluster schools to utilize unspent funds for essential facilities, no action was taken to restore electricity.

The government had issued an instruction on December 15, 2025, permitting the use of accumulated funds to ensure basic amenities in schools under the cluster jurisdiction. However, the failure to act in this regard resulted in the deprivation of basic facilities for students over a considerable period, the officials said.

Taking the matter seriously, the Directorate has directed the principal to explain why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him for negligence and non-compliance with official directives.

The principal has also been directed to appear in person at the Directorate on March 23, 2026, along with his reply.
