March 2, Kohima: Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, George Kurian, has reiterated the Centre's commitment to accelerating development in the Northeast towards a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India).

He was on a two-day visit to the Tuensang district on March 1st and 2nd.

On March 2nd, he chaired a meeting with the District Administration to assess the implementation of Central schemes, and assured the Centre's support for infrastructure and welfare initiatives in the region.

The Union Minister discussed various issues including infant mortality rate, immunization, the public distribution system, skills development, nutrition, PM Kisan, PMAY-G, SHGs, the education system, and National Highway 202.

During his visit, Mr. Kurian toured St. John Higher Secondary School, the Government Fish Farm at Thimlak, the District Hospital, the Parade Ground, and also interacted with tribal and civil society leaders from Tuensang.
